Critical apprisal - Essay Example Implementation of different visuals in the process of learning is very much important and every learner should try hard and deal with the challenges of the contexts and plots of video films and video clips shown to them during their lessons. It is not very easy for a teacher to find the most attractive and interesting plot of the film or a video clip, which will be comprehensible for the students’ audience and would trigger their further discussion and critical thinking. Visuals in Learning Visual tools play a significant role in education environment. Visual materials support oral and written information given to the students in the classroom. Visual aids help both students and educators to organize information in a better way. Interactive experience created with the help of visuals reaches students with a broad range of abilities and types of information perception. Canning Wilson (2001) points out that visual materials are essential in the provision of content samples of a foreign language, which improves the comprehension of the audience. Visuals include various types of materials, such as videos, pictures, posters, charts, and slides. The main tool in a classroom work with any language is a textbook. Textbooks provide well-structured and pre-determined information which is essential to build up a lesson workflow. However, successful language practice would be impossible without supplementing materials that help teacher create a socio-cultural context, which is necessary to help students penetrate into foreign culture, enrich the classroom environment and help the audience experience real-life situations. With the help of visual tools, teachers provide examples of lifestyle and behavior in the country of a target language. Practicing real-life use of a language would be impossible without creating contextualized situations that visual tools help to build. Visuals work effectively for students who have different levels of language proficiency because visual aids stimulate imagination and interest in the foreign culture and language. A lot of practices and methods in foreign language learning may be supported by visual materials. Some points that are difficult for understanding can be simplified with the help of visuals. Moreover, it should be noted that visual media, such as multimedia equipment, and a teacher’s desire to deal with innovations and challenges in the learning process are necessary conditions for a potential success of this type of learning approach. There are some multimedia course wares, which are available for the students together with their course

Free Essays - The Web of Life in All the Kings Men :: All the Kings Men Essays

The Spider Web of Life   Throughout the novel, All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren, the characters are constantly feeling the effects of their action later in the book.   Every one of their sinister, sketchy actions were dealt with again later in the book and not in pleasant circumstance.   As Cass Mastern had figured out: †¦the world is like an enormous spider web and if you touch it, however lightly, at any point the vibration ripples to the remotest perimeter and the drowsy spider feels the tingle and is drowsy no more but springs out to fling the gossamer coils about you who have touched the web and then inject the black, numbing poison under your hide.(188-89) This quote is a major theme that is encountered throughout the book.   Jack and the Judge, here is where we mainly see the web at work.   Jack, at the request of Willie, went to dig up dirt on the Judge.   Jack finds so many things out and as he exposes it everything goes wrong, the spider got him.   When Jack reveals his findings to Judge Irwin, his father, he ends up killing himself before Jack has a chance to talk to him father to son.   Although, for the most part, Jack's goal as stated at the beginning of the book was that he was to pursue truth and knowledge, he needed to leave this alone because it was a pursuit of knowledge, but it had no positive motive behind it, and, as we have encountered in previous books throughout the year and throughout this one, truth is not always a good and noble thing.   In this case the truth led to what destroyed the Judge and Jack was pursuing the truth.   The Cass Mastern story provides an interesting parallel to the ongoing saga of Jack Burden and Willie Stark.   Cass is tormented, as Jack is, by the truth and this drives them both to the brink only Cass falls over and can not recover.   Cass hit the spider web when he committed adultery with his good friends wife and after this the venom never seemed to stop flowing.   He could not stop tormenting himself because the ripple in the web he caused had been so huge that it swallowed up his friend and destroyed him.   Cass could not correct what had been done and that destroyed him.   Jack, even though his ripple had also destroyed another, had the opportunity to redeem himself because, even though his action was bad, it truly was in the pursuit of the truth, which, by definition is good.

Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Film Essay

I am very distressed about living in this dreadful place. I absolutely hate it; I can’t believe we moved from the best house EVER!!! With 5 floors if you included the basement and the top floor with the window where if I stand on the end of my toes I could see the whole of Berlin, to this place which I’m pretty sure is the worst house ever. I miss Berlin so much but most of all I miss you and grandfather. This house is really small too, and I mean it is tiny! It only has 3 floors which means there is not a lot of exploring to be done like in Berlin, in Berlin I had explored every single place I could think of but then I find something new all of a sudden. Also mother and father don’t let me explore in the new back garden because it is ‘out of bounds’. What ever that means. There’s nothing to explore in the front garden either because it’s so small. Perplexed, I stood and gazed through my bedroom window. There were so many farmers working on one huge field with little huts that disappeared into the distance†¦ The thing that horrified me most of all was that even kids starting from the age of about 4 were working and they looked so anorexic. Each time the soldiers shouted the kids would huddle closer and closer together. They all seemed so scared as if they were being forced to, hmmm†¦ All of the farmers looked really skinny, almost anorexic. One of the farmers’ even works in our kitchen peeling all of the vegetables. I found it really tedious with nothing to do so I decided to make a swing. To make the swing I needed some rope which was easy to find, and a tire which was a little trickier†¦ I interrupted Gretel whilst she was flirting so I could ask lieutenant Kotler if he had a spare tire. After a long and boring chat he gave me one and I made my swing. Once I had finished building the swing, I enjoyed it really well. But then I fell and hurt my knee really bad. I thought I would bleed to death but then a farmer called Pavel that worked in our kitchen ran over and helped me. After he had cleaned and bandaged my cut mother had finally arrived. She had figured out what happened almost immediately, she did not look pleased.

The Golden Compass Order No. 283922 No. of pages: 7 1st 6530 ‘The Golden Compass, ’ by Philip Pullman is a fantastical story, set in a world very much like our own, yet very different from it. In this tale, the child protagonist has to face a harsh world bereft of the ignorance and innocence of childhood, which often is the defense which keeps them safe from the realities, that they are too young to understand and face up to. A Timeline of Textile Machinery Inventions

The  Industrial Revolution  was the transition to new manufacturing processes in the period from about 1760 to sometime between 1820 and 1840. During this transition, hand production methods changed to machines and new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes were introduced. Water power efficiency improved and the increasing use of  steam power increased. Machine tools were  developed and the factory system was on the rise.  Textiles  were the main industry of the Industrial Revolution as far as employment, the value of output and capital invested. The textile industry was also the first to use modern production methods.  The Industrial Revolution began in  Great Britain  and most of the important technological innovations were British. This caused Austria-Hungary to declare war on Bosnia-Herzegovina, thus starting World War I. Austria-Hungary was a Central Power in the war, and ended up losing to the Allied Powers. Following the war, the empire broke apart and Austria became a republic. In 1938, German troops overtook Austria, and the republic became a part of Nazi Germany. Austrians had no choice but to participate in the Holocaust. Once again, the Allies were victorious and defeated Germany. After the war, Austria set up a provisional government, and a national government was established in 1945. Austria finally became an independent country ten years later, and joined the European Union in 1995 (Beller). Today, Austria is a national republic made up of nine provinces.
